General Idea: I want to capture the essence of either daily life or the night life here in Syracuse.  Maybe I choose a day where a special event is happening on campus, or a night where there is a basketball game, etc.  Either way, I'd like to get a bird's eye view of the city in which we live.

The Scene: More to come later when I discuss safety, but the setting of the video will be from on top of the Syracuse water tower that students often frequent.  I'd be creating a time lapse of sorts, and over the span of a handful of hours, the team and I would successfully capture the moving, living, breathing city of Syracuse as it functions in real time.  We'd be outdoors either during the day or (preferably) at night overlooking the city.

Lighting: We'd rely chiefly on natural outdoor lighting, or the artificial illumination of the lights from the city at night.

Audio: Other than nat sound, I might record some other forms of ambient noise off location and edit them in to make the piece more authentic.  Maybe I get a siren as it passes by on the streets of downtown, or the sound of a cheer from the dome, or even something as basic as a bird chirping.

Experience: Speaking from a more artistic/aesthetic point of view, I really hope that, in a condensed format, viewers would get a broad sense of what it takes to sustain life here in Syracuse.  It's cool to get a pulse from the city in which we call home, at least for 8-ish months out of the year.

Story Discovery: Viewers would be able to pick and choose which locations to hone in on during the time lapse.  They'd have to whole city in view.  So no matter what their interests, they would be able to look at a portion of the area and see what happens at their favorite spot throughout the day or night.

Where is my head: Camera would be placed at human eye level, surveying the city from above.

Safety: Depending on the weather of that week in which we shoot, we might be able to to take advantage of the unseasonably warm winter we've been having.  I wore shorts last night and nothing on top but sweatshirt and short sleeves today.  Also, the equipment is relatively portable and easy to work with in my opinion.  I've taken broadcasting equipment to some really remote spots before, and I have confidence that managing this set will be a lot easier compared to the cumbersome apparatus that is the Canon XF300.  I've been up on top of the water tower before, and it's really not that much of a safety hazard if you're aware of yourself.  Plus, if anyone falls and breaks the equipment, they probably won't be around to face the music of replacing the rig anyhow, so we've got nothing to lose amiright???
