As a Media & Education grad student, I am interested in how emerging virtual reality technology can be used to help students learn. For my final project I will be using Unity to create a learning environment that teaches about the solar system. I think it's important for students to learn about scientific topics in an engaging way. I am also incorporating this Unity scene into my final project in my Minds in New Media course. For that class I will be designing an experiment to test if learners retain more information about the topic through experiencing it through my virtual reality scene or traditional paper teaching materials. I am hoping to see that the interactivity and and involvement of the virtual reality experience has a positive outcome for how much the people the learn.
