Assignment 2 – Murder Mystery

For the first 360 video assignment my idea is a new take on a "murder mystery" scenario.
The short video would take place in a large lobby or common room of a building such as a dorm, library, or cafeteria. There will be multiple characters (3 or 4) whose actions the viewer is tasked with following. At the end of the film / video a third party is found dead. The viewers goal is to figure out which character caused the murder, and would likely have to view the scene multiple times to watch different events. An example of a cast would be a cafeteria worker, a student, a professor / faculty member, and a college tourist.
Ideal audio recording would be both through ambient recording and using lavalier mics or ADR for dialogue of specific characters. Lighting for this type of scene would be difficult to hide, so practical lights / window light would be the main sources of lighting. I could also "dim the lights" for areas of the video to highlight certain characters or actions taking place.
I think one of the benefits of experiences like this is the replay value of finding things that you didn't before, and also having the option to focus on different aspects of the scene, as you would in real life. In addition, the camera operator and crew could hide in plain sight bystanders, as most likely there will be many bystanders in the scene.
