For my independent learning assignment I completed the ZBrush 4 Essential Training from lynda.com. 3D modeling and sculpting aren't my strong points but while watching the lesson I realized the possibilities and importance of programs like unity, ZBrush, etc. Without these programs the VR experiences that we looked at throughout the semester whether that be the "Use of Force", "Kiya" or any other production would simply not be possible. 3D modeling and sculpting programs allow things to be built that we may not have access to capturing with video/photo or aren't around/were destroyed. This particular program allows a user to have complete freedom when sculpting and modeling in 3D. I think that is the importance of this new technology, to allow artists to have control of the way things move on screen.
Where the ZBrush lesson really got me thinking was about the possibilities that Professor Harper shared a couple of weeks ago in class. I'm not sure if I am allowed to publicly talk about his announcement but I think that this program would be rather useful if his plans go through.
Overall, if anyone is looking for more freedom when it comes to the sculpting process for 3D modeling I would highly recommend the ZBrush software and I would love to hear about other people's experiences with the software.
