Using the playmaker instead of programming is a great idea. Nevertheless, it was a little bit difficult for me to install it and get it ready to work. Once the playmaker was set up, I found it easy to handle it. In addition to that, the instruction sheets and videos as well as the fact we practiced the playmaker in class three times helped me a lot. I didn't feel helpless and I was able to ask every time. Unfortunately, the playmaker didn't work with windows so I had to...
Spera Assignment 6: Playmaker

This was a little bit foreign to me at the beginning, but once I got the hang of it, I started understanding the logic a lot more. I'm sure once I use it more, Playmaker will be a really cool tool to add a ton of interactivity into a scene on Unity, but for right now I did the basics and I'm running with it because I don't want to mess anything up now. I found the tip sheets really helpful on this one just to make sure that I...
Assignment 6: Trying to Get Gold

For this assignment I did the usual treasure box animation that we did in previous exercises. This time I added in the potion and gold ingots into my scene in the desert. So for this assignment I managed to create a scene where the player had to touch the potion in order to open the treasure chests. If the player leaves the vicinity of the potion the chest would automatically close preventing the player from getting their prize ingots. The story goes that after the player escapes into the desert...
Assignment 6: Interactivity using Playmaker

After finishing this assignment, I think it's funny that sometimes the smallest mistakes cause the biggest issues. Really makes you appreciate the way that normal reality works. Playmaker is a really interesting toolset for Unity. The way that it turns some really complex actions into a (relatively) simple user interface is awesome. If Unity alone is good for making worlds and environments, Playmaker is the tool that adds action to the world. You can create events that move objects, animate them, transport you, and perform a multitude of other actions. Actions...

The one... the only... treasure chest. Really enjoyed using Playmaker because I am a big fan of charts and it helps me a lot to see the visual flowchart of the actions. https://youtu.be/YssLKawyQHk
Sweating the Small Stuff

Oh to be back where I was a couple of weeks ago - constructing little scenes in Unity and thinking that I was breaking new ground with my amazing skills. Oh how wrong I was; animation is a completely different beast. This might be the most labor intensive part of Unity I've found so far, and when you really think about it, that does make sense. Static objects don't need any real logic as they just sit pretty wherever you decide to place them with your digital hand of...

My presentation is about the NBA's collaboration with NextVR. To begin the 2015-16 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors' game was live streamed for free in VR (accessible to anybody with Gear VR). There were positives, and negatives about this experience. In the end, the kernels of greatness makes this an experience worth improving and expanding on. Anything which combats the live television market is of interest because live events are the only thing keeping television alive.
Port: Virtually Live Research Assignment

It’s always exciting to create an imaginative scene. I’ve actually created two. One is about a desert adventure, where a cat warrior and some fighters go through a desert nowhere. But somehow I cannot export it. Even though I tried to fix every possible error and replaced a new First Person Controller, it didn’t work. Disappointingly, I abandoned that idea and recreated a new one, where a determined girl and her pet – a cute kitten explored through mountains. I love the crystal clear sky and the two characters. The...
Assignment 5: Basic Unity Scene

Making this Unity scene was, overall, a pleasurable learning experience that came out about as well as I could have reasonably expected it to. I had little problems importing assets, manipulating terrain, and coming to grips with what is probably the most difficult part of using the Scene Editor: Navigation and UI. However, with a little experimentation and an ergonomic mouse, I overcame. The idea for this scene grew very organically out of the limited resources with which I was working. Beginning with a simple sand albedo terrain texture, I...
