Initially, our topic was 360 thriller vdo. We filmed it along the apartment corridor and a dark apartment room where we had a fake ghost jumping out at the end. However, during post-production, we realized that the program could not identify different shots and the stitch came out not well. Therefore, we decided to reshoot with a whole new topic during daytime and with lots of lights. We decided to do a 360 video of the dance rehearsal that SU Freestyle Squad prepared for Chinese Spring Festival Gala. The dance...

Alex and I went in to Citrus TV last Wednesday after class and filmed her 60 second web exclusive on the GoPro Omni. Last week, all we had was some footage of a BDJ capstone class; because this wasn't very interesting we instead decided to capture a behind the scenes look in Citrus TV. In this web exclusive Alex delivers a full recap of the weeks Bachelor episode in an impressive 60 seconds. Though it didn't work out this time, eventually we hope to get the 360 camera at the desk where...
Pole Position in Syracuse, N.Y. – 360-degree go-karting

So the above improvement to our video came on a third visit to Pole Position in Syracuse (for reference, here is the earlier version we did). Logan and I learned a little bit from our mistakes. Our biggest mistake was thinking that we could go full speed on a go-kart capable of 45 mph and think we'd get stable footage. That resulted in the mess you saw in the draft version of the project. Sorry for anyone that vomited watching that. This time around, we asked the folks at the...

Re-posting because I cannot find the original post for out team project. We tested a concept of doing a live action fiction story which turned out to be a lot harder than anticipated. We realized that doing a fiction story would require a large amount of pre-production and resources that we simply did not have. It is nothing like working on a normal video project. There is no staging, lighting or blocking like no a regular production. Also there are no "cuts" or "takes".
Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center is home to some of the University's most spectacular events. We've had mogul Oprah Winfrey and former VP Joe Biden grace the stage, as well as various star-studded lectures, concerts, and comedy shows. But how do these large- and small-scale events come together? The office of Student Centers and Programming Services (SCPS), where I previously worked. They are the magicians. While many of these events are the ideas of student organizations, SCPS is responsible for reserving the Auditorium, setting up the space (i.e...
As a member of Syracuse's student programming board, I work closely with a team of students to plan and bring about various events to our campus. One of our most well-known events in the spring is Mayfest in Walnut Park. I'm sure that many 360 videos already exist with music festivals and large scale concerts as the subject, but this one would differentiate from them because it would show the overall transformation of Walnut Park over the course of the spring semester. Since Mayfest isn't until the end of April,...
