Assignment 5

What I love about watching the NYT360 videos on Google Cardboard is the feeling of being transported directly into a scene. For my video, I made that scene two friends making a late night snack and just catching up with one another in general. The video is comprised of three scenes around the kitchen. The first has viewers seemingly sitting at the kitchen table with the us, the second was intended to get a better shot of the food being prepared, and the third is more of a bird's eye...

Unity Assignment – Kyle Miller

Prior to this assignment I had never used or heard of Unity in my life.  Always entering a new editing software is difficult and especially when it has to do with creating 3D environments.  Following basic guidelines was simple, but I can see where things may get tedious.  For my assignment, I first set out to basically make the North Pole and have santa and elves.  As I laid out my snowy terrain I quickly realized there were no free character assets for that, so I basically turned my project...

Kyle Miller Assignment 5 Green Lakes

For my individual 360 video project I decided to go to Green Lakes.  I watched a few NY Times videos that focused on exploring nature and I believe Green Lakes is one of the more interesting areas near Syracuse.  I wanted to capture the serene atmosphere and almost give it a therapeutic feeling.  When it is warm enough I have gone here when I'm feeling stressed with work, so I thought it be cool to make a video that transported me there whenever I wanted. After I finished shooting I...

Unity First Try-Sarah Luo

After you mastered the basic skills in Unity, the passion and curiosity will drive you to a place that you've never imaged before. My original idea of building my first scene in Unity is to design the end of world: You are standing on a cliff, overlooking the endless blue sky and amazing ocean. However, I found out that building a cliff by myself is actually a very difficult work. I spent a lot of time on building the mountains across the terrain, but when you changed into the first-person...

Assignment 6: Isolated Town in Unity

This was my first effort to really create a scene in Unity that made sense. I began by creating my terrain, which I wanted to be hilly but not mountainous. This proved to be more difficult than I initially thought as I was creating the scene on my laptop with a track pad and I had some difficult shaping the raised terrain in to hills rather than pointy mountains. The only other problem I ran into was when I attempted to animate a horse that I put into the scene....

Unity Scene: ClockRift

"Clockrift" is a title i thought of while deciding the storyline for this scene. A potential storyline for the scene I created could be as follows: Maxwell was a man who was known mostly for who his ancestors were; his essence as a person was often neglected. One day, on his average path through his day in life, he noticed his watch needle had stopped moving. Before he knew it, he was no longer in his hometown working; all he could see were green pastures and a path. Dazed and...

Unity Scene First Attempt – Greg Archer

So here is my Unity scene. I created a location that included a beach, a river, a wooded area and some mountains. I added various trees and 3D grass as well as some water. There are also some assets that I down loaded from the asset store such as the tent, log fire, the fire itself, the smoke and the boat. To help enhance the scene I added a wind component and three sounds; footsteps, campfire noise and an ocean noise. Some challenges I had on this other than the...

Unity Scene: Happy land

As a food lover, i wanted to create a land full of food and have snowman population to fill the land. Initially i had the terrain floor in purple and rainbow pattern, but it was too much for the eyes, and when i tried to make the mountain, it looks too bizarre. I decided to keep the floor and mountains look natural, to balance out the crazy but cute big food around the land. Additionally, it took me a while before i get used to moving, rotating and resizing...

Unity

This assignment was stressful for me. Although I found it fun to try to create a world I had many technical issues. I was using unity on my own laptop which is most likely the issue but it kept closing on me and I had many compiler errors as well. I tried to go in and fix them but I don't know coding at all so ended up starting over a bunch of times. I would like to learn how to fix the issues and code a bit but with...

Assignment 6: Medieval Village

For this assignment, I decided to create a simple scene using an asset package that had a medieval theme. I added a few little villages to the scene and created paths between each village. To add to the scenery, I made a few mountains that surrounded the villages and also added a lake area. I didn't have too much trouble creating this scene, as our time in class using Unity was very helpful and I have used Unity a few times before on my own. The only problem I...
