For my project, I had to google and teach myself how to use the fades and mix different audio clips into my video. Because my project was made up of a lot of little clips of different performances, I wanted to make sure that they lined up with my video and I had to google on how to do that in VR just to make sure that it was all either the same process as a normal non-VR video or if it was a different process. During the shooting of,...
For my independent learning assignment, I decided to focus on audio. I've never really worked with audio devices such as Tascams and Lav mics, so I thought this would be a great time to try it out, especially given my project. My project had tour guides walk through multiple areas in the iSchool, often outside or during busy high-volume times (such as graduate student presentations). As a result, dedicated mics were necessary, as it helped isolate the tour guides' voices. Throughout the process, I had to learn and troubleshoot numerous...
Over time, during this semester, I have come to enjoy Unity a lot more than I had expected. The idea of making 3D games and models to tell stories intrigues me. As a public relations professional, I believe Unity has a lot of potential to be tool for creating tactics that can be included in PR campaigns for brands. As a result, I chose to create my final assignment in Unity. I chose my second pitch that I had given in the class a few weeks ago. This idea was...
For my final project, I made a scene in Unity of a Music Festival. You can travel throughout the festival to the different stages, the futuristic bar, beach and the ocean! I was having issues with checking out equipment at the cage and had to pivot my final project idea. I wanted to create this experience because music festivals are near and dear to my heart and have proved me with some of the best moments of my life. I really enjoyed using unity and I hope you enjoy my...
For my independent learning requirement, I took the Unity3D Essential Training Course on Lynda.com. The course gives you the basics on using the Unity software. It also goes into greater depth on the fundamentals than what I initially learned in class. The course is largely a review of what I learned in class. However, there are a few tips that come in handy. First, it teaches you how to organize your assets. Before I took this course, when I uploaded assets to Unity, I would just stuff them into the...

For my Independent Learning Assignment, I wanted to learn more about Adobe Premiere and how to use it more effectively when video editing. Being an iSchool student I have not spent any of my time working on editing videos especially with Adobe Premier. The only video editing experience that I have would be from high school using iMovie. This became a challenge for me going into this course and I wanted to really learn for to use Adobe Premiere. I found a course on Lynda about the editing basics of Adobe Premiere and...
The course I took on Lynda is called Introduction to Video Sound Design. As a music student, I have experience working with audio, but not in the context of film. The depths of my sound design within video basically only includes projects I have made for class that have music and/or audio in them. With this course, I was hoping to gain a better understanding of how music and sound effects can help to convey they correct tone in a video. When I was at SXSW this past March, I...
Assignment 8 - By Katie Conti Here is my Trnio scan of my Red Rainboot... and a lot of carpet. It's been uploaded to Sketchfab. I seriously struggled with the Trnio App. Both its post-capture upload/render and crop function were challenging. The upload/render process took me forever and often could not even completely re-load. I had to redo my scan 6 times, and it still did not turn out as well as I had hoped. The preview function had similar loading issues, which I think may have been due to...
I used the Trnio app to upload a 3D model of a hat that I found in my apartment. I have been 3D scanning objects since last week and have not been able to get a decent scan. Finally, I was able to find the right space where I can walk around the object and get multiple pictures from all angles. The lighting was good and I was able to upload the scan to Sketchfab easily. I also noted that once the final upload is done on Sketchfab, the image...
