Have you ever played Pro Evolution Soccer which is a very popular soccer game on Play Station? In this game,  we can control players of one team against the other team. And there is a special camera type called player, which provides a player’s perspective to make you feel you are playing in this game.

The game inspired me about the concept of our 360 video pitch. Even if you are sitting in the substitute’s bench,  you can not empathize with the attackers or defenders. Therefore, I would like to create a 360 video in a soccer game for my assignment.

The Scene

For the story, we can pay attention to one specific attack happened near the penalty area. For example, a player is keeping the ball and trying to thrust down-the-middle while several defenders are trying to steal the ball to prevent the player from scoring. However, the player makes a wall-pass with his teammates and finally scores.

So the scene should take place in a open space, maybe a sports field. As for the camera, it should be close to the players and be set as tall as a player. There will be a few movements, including the attackers and the defenders as well as the referee running on the field.

Lighting

In order to provide a real effect on playing in the game, I decide to make the video under daylight. Although some important games usually starts at night, I am worried that there is no sufficient light in the field.

Audio

If there is a game, the shout of players on the field, the whistling signals from the referee and the cheer from the audiences should be recorded.

Experience

For my video, I really hope to share the experience with some disabled people who can never play soccer in their real life and for those who have never played soccer before. They have never participated in soccer because of the disability or the preference for other sports.

Some people may claim that they can watch soccer on TV. But watching on the TV is totally different from playing in the flesh. Only after the exciting experience can you feel the pleasure of the fascinating sports.

Story Discovery

In my video, the protagonist should the be the player who is keeping the ball and the defenders who is trying to stop the attacker. The attacker push the story forward because he will get rid of the defenders and try to score. You can also see the celebration of the attacking team and the disappointment of the defending team. In addition, I do not think extra audiovisual anchors are necessary. Standing on the field, you will definitely concentrate on the ball but not the goalkeeper of the attacking team or the azure sky.

The real feeling of playing in the game may attract people who have never played soccer. Especially in our country, few people like to play soccer, which makes our national team uncompetitive. If people realize the pleasure of soccer, more people will come to play the most popular sports which will in turn make our national team better.

Where Is My Head

The best way to make sense is to put someone in the game but not in the seats or working as a caddie. People who is watching this video will regard himself as the teammates of the player who is attending the attack or the defense. Based on my concept, the 360 rig should be near to the penalty area(although it will disturb the game to some extent).

Safety

For safety considerations, we can not record the video segments in a real game. We have to come up with a specific scenario of this attack to guarantee the safety of our equipment.
