My idea is to create a 360 video about playing hide and seek on SU campus. I think most people have played hide and seek in their childhood. Playing hide and seek on SU campus not only can bring audiences’ childhood memory but also can lead them to visit the campus. I want to create an interactive experience.

The scene

The whole film is about a group people are playing hide and seek on SU campus. My first scene is 3~5 players run away from the camera in order to find some play to hide. This scene will take place in a large open space, and I will put the camera in the lawn between the Newhouse and Schine Student Center. Here will be the first site. Player 1 is the person is chosen to catch concealed players. The scene will stay dark for a while in order to describe the player 1 are closing his/her eyes. After that, the scene will be other players finished hiding. Each player is hiding around a specific building on campus, such as Schine Student Center and Newhouse building. The player 1 (experiencer) needs to look around to locate the concealed players. After concealed players are found by the player 1, they will introduce the building which they hide in to the audiences.

Lighting

The lighting should be daylight.

Audio

I will record the voice of the player 1 and ambient audio separately in stereo mode using Tascam audio recorders.

Experience 

On the one hand, I believe that almost everyone has played hide and seek in their childhood, and we can easily feel happiness from this old and simple game. However, it’s difficult and even embarrassed for us to play it with friends in public after growing up. We are too busy in adult world, and I hope we can rediscover the sheer fun childhood and smile as a child. On the other hand, people also can explore SU campus more carefully, and I think it’s an interesting and creative way to introduce SU.

Story Discovery

The player 1 who needs to locate all concealed players is the protagonist in this story, which is non-fiction. He/she is a new student, and he/she is trying to find his/her new friends who are hiding in SU campus. The experiencer can discover SU campus a lot in a fun way with this story. This video is more interactive, and it can arouse experiencers’ interest. I will use typical phrases of hide and seek, like “ready or not, here I come!”, to guide the experiencer’s attention.

Where is My Head?

I will put the camera at an average human height of between 5’4 and 5’10, because my protagonist is human. I want experience feel he/she are standing in the center of the scene, and he/she can look around comfortably. I will position the 360 rig in the center of the lawn between the Schine and Newhouse, and I will use tripod to set the camera in that place.

Safety

Because I will shoot on campus, I think it’s safer. Lots of students pass by Newhouse and Schine everyday, so I can pretend a student siting in front of Newhouse building and glancing at the camera easily.
