Assignment 6: Using Mixamo and Playmaker to animate characters.

-Julian Schoenbohm

For this assignment I chose my existing bank robbery scene again. I wanted to add a police officer that gets out of the car right after arriving at the crash site.

To make the officer look like getting out of the car after arriving, I chose to activate the Game Object not before the police car has actually arrived at the crash site and before entering the trigger. After this, the police officer is going to take a first look at the burning cars. I wanted the police officer to also call for backup, which is why you can hear some radio signal when he is moving towards the cars.

When exiting the collider, the officer moves back to the car. First, I wanted the police officer to look like getting back in the car, which is why I had a "Destroy Object" command right at the end. Unfortunately with this, the whole scene was not repeatable, since the object would not be in the scene anymore after one run. I ended up deleting the command for the purpose of this assignment.

Working with Mixamo is pretty easy. The only mistake I made at the beginning is not to check the "walk in place" feature when downloading the character. This led to some issues with the animation when looping. It always started hopping back to a specific point after two steps. After downloading it again, everything worked pretty well.

Another thing that took me some minutes was to adjust the speed of the moving of the object itself. When this is not set "correctly", the moving of the character looks unnatural, since the moving of the legs doesn't fit the overall movement of the object.
