Assignment 2 : 360 video pitch
My topic of this 360 video is “The Stolen Time”. I will divide my plan into five sections in order to illustrate my insight of the video.
Firstly, the scene. I will shoot my video in a small room while the subjects close to the camera. There will be not much movement, and the movement close to the camera. Moreover, the camera should be at an average human height on the sitting level.
Secondly, the lighting and audio. Since the video will be shot inside a small room, indoor lighting might be the best choice for it. I will only use sounds of nature in this scene for the reason that I hope the audience could experience the scene in a natural and actual way.
The next one is the experience. I regard this section as the most important one to demonstrate the insight of my thought. I hope the person who is watching this video could experience the beauty of nature by sitting at a cozy chair while watching the sunrise, changing clouds and the sunset. It seems like a quite mediocre scene to watch, but such a normal video actually means a lot to busy adults. Most of my friends told me that they love staring at the sky and watching the nuance when clouds moving.“It is just so romantic”, said my friend Rachel. However, almost all of them regard staring at the sky as a luxury in this fast-speed society. That part of romantic time has been stolen by daily busy issues in your life. Therefore, the unique of this experience is to get the stolen time back to you and let you see how the sky changes in a day. The scene will not last for 24 hours with no doubt, so I will fast forward and process the whole video in a short time for people to enjoy.
The story discovery is the fourth section made up for my pitch. A good VR video give audience space to imagine and discover, so a good storytelling also need to be planned. My protagonist in this video is a busy business woman, whose name is Rachel. There will be no movement but a person who sitting on a cozy chair and watching the changes of the sky outside the window. Certainly, you can find a great many details in her living room such as a dusty photo frame, a guitar at the corner or a table covered by files. When you walk into the room, a big French window will capture your eyeballs quickly. And the fast-speed changing of the view outside the window is what I want to show to all audiences.
Last but not least, the position of the camera. I will put the camera as where Rachel sat before. Sitting should be the best position when the audience is watching. Certainly, you can stand and walk inside the room, the visual effect will also be changed.
In general, what I want to show in this video is the beauty of sky we all missed in our past lives. We will not have 24 hours to observe the changes, so I hope we can experience it in my short video as a gift.
