For my independent learning, i decided to learn more about creating a character on Adobe Fuse CC. From our previous projects, we got to install the characters and objects from the assets store in Unity. However, I feel the free ones are very limited and they are not exactly what i wanted. So when professor Jason Webb introduced us to Adobe Fuse CC, i was addicted.
Coming from writing background, a Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism student, I never thought i would be able to create a 3d character, nonetheless one that recreate from a real person.
I thought it would be a fun and gimmick way to create 3d character of me and my friends and put them in the unity scene that I originally planned to do for my final project. (Before I had a talk to my public diplomacy friend and I thought that making a 360 campus tour that will be viewed by people at the summit in Washington DC would be a better opportunity for me career wise.)
From watching https://www.lynda.com/Fuse-tutorials/Adding-facial-hair-masks-gloves/473891/489673-4.html I got to learn how to add so many elements to the character to make it as similar to a real person as possible, in such case, in the photo below is the beard element. In addition, I had the most fun playing around customizing with the facial expression. https://www.lynda.com/Fuse-tutorials/Customizing-expression/473891/489663-4.html
Another thing that I found very cool is the fact that we can export the character to Mixamo and choose an action for the character to do. (My favorite would be the catwalk walk).
Eventhough I did not use it in my final project, I will definitely learn more and play around with it, or may possibly get to use it in my future career.
