Understanding Unity, specifically having missed two classes that helped instruct how to maneuver the online world, is not the easiest pursuit.
I first struggled with applying the terrain to my environment. Although utilizing a sand texture was easy enough, my laptop version of Unity did not allow me at first to apply mountains or any type of differentiation for that matter to the flat sand texture.
At first, when putting new objects into my Unity scene, I was easily able to move the objects, size them differently and rotate them. The more I messed around with said objects, the more stationary they seemed to become for whatever reason.
I still don’t seem to understand how to effectively maneuver throughout the world. I seem to always get lost and not be able to reaffirm my current standing, or find my objects or reorient myself.
I think a story told through the eyes of a young, small child, attending a State Fair or carnival type of scene would be really interesting and fun to explore in a Unity type of world. As the user moves through the scene, the fair can develop into the various areas that are displayed at our Great New York State Fair – a concert section, never-ending food stands, the petting zoos upon petting zoos, a rides and attractions section, etc.
By making the objects large, the user can experience what it is like to maneuver this larger than life fair from the eyes of a small experiencer. Every aspect will be grander, larger and more fabulous than when one experiences it as a typical adult carnival-goer.
