Independent Learning – Kyle Miller
For my independent learning assignment, I used resources from Lynda.com and Youtube. On Lynda I watched different portions of the Unity 5: 3D Essential Training video for various parts of my project. For our first Unity assignment, this was a very useful tool for me just getting used to importing assets, setting up my terrain, creating a skybox, and utilizing many other basic features of Unity. I also used the Creating and Implementing Animation portion of the tutorial to figure out how to get the characters in my final project to have a looped idle animation that has them rock side to side a little while they watch the movies on the screen.
I also used a video from Youtube to figure out how to get my videos to play on a plane object attached to my monitor in the drive-in theater. After going through many tutorials and almost hitting a point where I thought making movies on the personal unity version was not possible, I came across a tutorial completely in German. While it was kinda hard to follow, this guy wrote his c# script in english (which I guess it’s always in?) and I was able to create my screen!
