VR Presentation YouTube: 360 Live Stream and Spatial Audio

I did my presentation on the brand new features being offered by YouTube in regards to 360 video and audio. This was first released on Monday, April 18th for the Coachella Music Festival so that viewers could experience being at the festival in 360-degree video. This experienced was further enhanced with the addition of spatial audio technologies to enhance to auditory and immersive aspects of the musical performances. Carla Sertin – Final Pitch

Newhouse Innovation and Invention Group Project Our project seeks to frame the world of Newhouse through the lens of innovation. Over the years the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications has been an important part in driving the growth of the media. Lyndon B. Johnson gave his Gulf of Tonkin speech at the commemoration of Newhouse 1. Great newscasters and entertainers like Regis Philbin graduated from the school and went on to change the media as we know it.Our final project seeks to pull back the curtain on our school....

Elevator Pitch: Black Box Players

The Black Box Players is a theater group on the Syracuse University campus in which performers are able to explore theater in a group of other dedicated actors. For my final project, I would like to create an immersive 360° video which brings the audience into various aspects of what the Black Box Players do. This would include scenes from circle script reads where the actors sit in a circle and read for the characters in the play. This would be great for 360° because the camera would be placed in the center...

Final Pitch – Vi Nguyen

For my final project for our Virtual Reality Storytelling class, I want to do a 360 video of Letchworth State Park. Known as the Grand Canon of the East, the park was recently voted number Best State Park in the United States in 2015 by USA Today. I would want to tell a story that is unique to the park and to Upstate New York.   https://500px.com/photo/102833133/letchworth-state-park-fog-by-karen-juhl?ctx_page=1&from=search&ctx_type=photos&ctx_q=Letchworth+State+Park

Virtual Corn Maze Synopsis

My idea is to create a virtual corn maze. It will be in Unity3D and will be a first person idea. It will start out with the first person controller in front of the maze and you will hear some noises behind you, so you would use the mouse to turn around and Donald Trump will be running behind you trying to catch you before you can escape the maze; if he does, you will be forced to fully pay for the costs of his wall (thanks prof. Harper). So,...

NEW 400 Final Project Pitch – Kaileigh Woodruff

My idea is simple. I'm going to hike to the top of my favorite mountain in the Adirondacks and capture the amazing view. Some challenges might include carrying the camera equipment up the mountain. And then I'll have to make sure all the batteries are charged because it would be unfortunate to hike 6 miles and then not have a camera work. For audio, I was thinking of asking a local artist in the Adirondacks to produce a song for the film or having a narrative of an Adirondack local.

Final Project Pitch – Federico Ghelli

Innocorp sells alcohol impairment  simulator kits ranging from $1,060 to $6,250. These goggles aim to show people the effects of alcohol by blurring eyesight and peripheral vision. My idea is to create a virtual reality experience that will reproduce the effects of alcohol and drugs, offering a more powerful and visual experience than the simple goggles. A virtual reality drug and alcohol simulator would be also cheaper ($20 for Google Cardboard vs. $1,060 for the cheapest goggle kit), and it would offer a wider variety of effects (not just alcohol). My...

Creating and fighting an Animated Character in the HTC Vive using Playmaker in Unity – Assignment 6 / 7

In this post I won't go over how to animate a character in Unity or the basics of Playmaker. Those can be found here in a tutorial by Professor Dan Pachecho. However I did want to touch on the subject of Global Variables, which are very important to this construction. Basically, a global variable can be called by any object's FSM and whatever is stored in the variable is shared throughout the scene. This allows you to store values such as Health or distance and call them from any object....
