In many ways, this was the most exciting project for this class. It was certainly the most challenging. While my aims were higher early on, my accomplishments here feel fairly precipitous, given my previous experience. I managed to convert nearly 1200 photos (later 600, after an export took over 40 hours, then crashed) into a 3D model of Clinton Square. It was far from perfect. But it is mine. (And Google Maps. Thanks, all.) The model is viable to run on the HTC Vive. When I tried to put it...

https://youtube.com/ This project has been the one to challenge me the most. While thrilling to create world, the learning curve was frsutrating to deal with. My problem, no one else's. Main challenges: Lighting. I was constantly in shadow for no reason that I could discern. Terrain smoothing. I got ambitious and tried to create terraced ramps up the side of mountain. It's even hard to explain, let alone do. Practice helped, though. Bridge-building. I got some cool thord party installs, but they would not support my "weight." I even tried...

A center for community, a local business champion, and the spearhead of millennial culture, the coffee shops and roasteries that dot nearly every small town in the U.S. are landmarks for everyone. They bring people together from all backgrounds to gather around a drink that is common to much of the world: coffee. To highlight this, I would like to produce a 360 tour of Peaks Coffee Company. Peaks is run by a young couple who supply over 30 cafés and coffee shops in Upstate NY. They roast in their...

They bring people together from all backgrounds to gather around a drink that is common to much of the world: coffee. I would like to produce a 360 tour of one of four coffee roasteries in Syracuse: Café Kubal, Recess Coffee, Peaks Coffee Company or the Kind Coffee Company. I have met all four of...

by Joshua Race I have experienced VR multiple times in the past, including some extended experience at my office’s VR lab this summer. The summer experience was mostly focused on gamification, not storytelling, so the time already spent in the innovation lab has helped me assess which forms of VR are best, and the respective values of each medium. Below, is my definitive ranking of nearly every VR headset in existence: HTC Vive It’s the most immersive format I was able to use. I watched the documentary After Solitary and...
