Assignment 5 – Prasanna Kulkarni


I  enjoyed doing this 3D model assignment. Making a 3D model and putting it in the unity scene is so easy that it makes you wonder about the possibilities of the technology. As Prof. Pacheco mentioned in the class the future of the technology 'being able to scan a room and put it in VR environment to explore, making 3d models, photogrammetry, creating rigged 3D models from 3D scans', the assignment was a fitting introduction to the possibilities of scanning 3D models.

I scanned myself for the assignment and put myself in a unity scene for the assignment. I use to use this model for my final project as well. The reason why I am using my model is kind of funny. More details on it, in the upcoming blogs.

Well, until this assignment I had not exported an unity scene to anything other than a Mac playable file. In this assignment I exported it to the webGL format and put it on the class server. I shared the link on facebook and got so many responses from my friends about how awesome this was. 🙂

Cant wait to see their reaction when I share my final project in webgl format and ask them to imagine how it'd be to see in virtual reality.
