One of the biggest and most noticeable improvements that we made to our video were the facts about how alcohol impacts university students. We placed these at the end of the video on a black screen to allow the viewer to read them without any other distractions. I thought this was cool to do as it made the video into an interesting new kind of PSA from an idea that was initially just meant to be funny.
Although other group members did the research, this was one of the main things I worked on. To make this effect, I knew I would have to add titles (text on screen) in Premiere, which I've done before, but it was interesting learning how to do the same process for a 360 video. Once I added the titles, I saw that a normally reasonable text size was HUGE on the 360 video, so I had to crank it down to a minuscule size in the title editor. I think the reason the text was so big originally was because the title editor was trying to have it fit the full screen, which is a tremendous resolution. I made sure that there were no typos before I resized it, because I couldn’t read the text in the editor when it was so small.
Once that was done, I had to "place" the titles properly. I found the exact X and Y axis that would be in front of the viewer if they were looking at the "front" of the video, were we placed a lot of the important story elements (me offering the viewer a drink, waking up and seeing the toilet). I repeated this process for all of the facts and the cited sources. I also added "dip to black" to the front and back of each title on the timeline to fade one fact out, and the next in.
Thankfully, it was really easy to add the Nadir patch, we just had to drop it on the video. One of my group members did this for me.
Lastly, I took all the videos by copying the elements from their respective timelines, and exported one long experience that shows both the acceptance of the drink and the refusal.
