Our group continued with our project, filming a traditional American Super Bowl party. During the actual Super Bowl, I set the scene, finding places for the camera that would place the viewer “in the center of it all.” Especially, in the first few shots in the kitchen, I tried to position as many things away from each other as possible, so Ryan would have to go all around the room to get all of his necessary utensils. This helped make for a much more dynamic scene, especially once sped up, and allows viewer interaction as he/she follows Ryan around the kitchen.
I also tried to find dynamic moments during the actual game to record as well (since the battery and SD card wouldn’t be able to record during the entire time). As a result, we tried to find dynamic moments and “mini-stories” throughout the game. The benefit of having so many different subjects was that storylines were able to happen authentically without much prompting, such as people’s reactions after betting what color Justin Timberlake’s shoes would be during the Halftime Show or me accidently drenching a friend’s computer with water. All of these events help contribute to the authenticity of the piece as a whole, making the viewer feel as if they themselves are in the presence of good friends.
In addition to framing and setting the scenes, I also stitched the insta360 Pro footage together last week, as the first time didn’t work properly. Since I was also the only member of my group who had extensive experience with Adobe Premiere, I helped teach my group fundamentals of editing in Premiere Pro, so they could edit the footage down, add graphics and transitions, and add the Nadir Patch I made in Adobe Illustrator. Overall this first video project was super educational, as I feel much more comfortable creating and editing 360 degree content alone for my final project.
