I am proposing to create a 360 video of the waterfall and the summit of Tinker Falls. There are multiple scenes to be filmed, one being the waterfall itself which is a rather big water fall compared to others in the area. Another scene is the summit clearing at the top of the hike that overlooks the nearby lake and surrounding trees. The view in my opinion is breathtaking. The project is outdoors and I would suggest the lighting for this project to be either early in the morning near dawn or closer to the “golden hour” of dusk to get the right lighting for sunset. Regarding audio, I would like to capture the natural sounds of the waterfall and surrounding nature. The experience I want to create is the experience of being close to nature. I want the view to be able to have the feeling of reaching the top of a mountain and seeing a beautiful view. It is compelling in that it allows a viewer to experience nature in its purest form without being physically in nature. The different outdoor sites around Syracuse are often overlooked and I think this is a great opportunity to show it off. I think those who are not “nature people” or enjoy the physical pains of hiking would be able to still enjoy the sights along the way. The camera would be at an average height of a person to simulate walking along the trail and at each viewpoint. The only safety concern and issues I can think of is the stability of the camera outside and possible natural weather conditions.
