Every year, First Year Players, an entirely student run musical theatre organization, puts on a fully fledged musical in Syracuse University's Goldstein Auditorium. This year, we've decided to present Heathers The Musical, based off of the movie.
For my final project, I would like to create an immersive musical experience, inspired by the 360° video produced for The Lion King on Broadway.
Join the Heathers
- Experience an exciting performance from exclusive positions
- View from the Pit Orchestra
- Backstage with the actors and crew, waiting to get on stage
- On stage, during the performance
The Importance of Breaking the Fourth
Not only is Heathers the Musical a comedy, but it also lends itself very well to an interactive experience because it often "breaks the fourth wall" and calls upon/interacts with the audience members. Translating one of the musical numbers into a 360° performance only enhances this playful nature and will allow audience members to feel a part of the fun.
In addition to the entertainment, audience members will be able to witness the capacity and hard work, in addition to the actors, required to create a musical. Whether its backstage with crew members and prop managers or amongst the string section of the pit, there is more to appreciate from these other viewpoints.
