360 Video Pitch
My 360 Video story is about “journey towards home alone”. Its aim is to combine the experiences of room escape games and suspense/thriller movies. The audience can experience the mysterious story through VR, and it will feel real because the video is shot in real places, unlike online games.
SCENE/LIGHTING/AUDIO
I’m going to start my first scene at night, outside. The camera will be set at an average human height to imitate audience’s eyes. The place should be a dark, quiet country road with different kinds of trees and woods to create a mysterious atmosphere.
I will add music and sound effects that suits the atmosphere to the video to make it more compelling.
STORY DISCOVERY
The protagonist in the story is the viewer (POV angle will be used in every scene). It is half-fiction, half-nonfiction, because we can shoot different stories based on viewer’s choices. For instance, there may be a crossroad in the story. Each direction has a unique storyline and will lead the audience to a different scene. We can shoot four scenes and let the audience decide which direction he/she wants to go.
Of course, the viewer’s main purpose is to go home. He/she will encounter different obstacles (like getting rid of a stalker in the night, going through an old empty house by himself/herself). For instance, in the first scene, there will be someone following the viewer from a distance, creating tension from the first place.
Because of the POV angle, I believe the audience will feel the a bit scary, also excited about the “journey”, which is good because of the popularity of adventurous detective TV series and activities like haunted houses and room escape games.
EXPERIENCE
I believe though it is not a video for everyone, since not everyone like thrilling experiences However, it will have certain amount of loyal audience. To be in the particular place and time in the film will be very engaging. Imagine being in a thriller yourself. This is the experience I hope to give to the viewers.
WHERE IS MY HEAD?/SAFETY
Because I want to create the visual unity between camera and human eye, so the camera will be at same level with eyes’ height. I am not sure if there is a way to attach the camera to a helmet so it can film entirely how the cameraman moves, but post-production will be needed to fix the cameraman being in the frame problem.
There will not be a safety problem because movements are included in the shooting, so a cameraman is always needed to take control of the camera.
